Republic Services provides Winchester residents with automated residential solid waste pickup. Automated service uses trucks with mechanical arms that lift the container and deposit trash or recycling into a compacting truck. Residents are entitled to a 95-gallon wheeled trash cart. If the standard 95-gallon trash container is too large for your household, you may call to request a 65-gallon trash container. Similarly, if the recycle cart is too small, upgrade your recycle to a 95-gallon cart for FREE!

Here are a few tips for properly placing your cart at the curb:

Place the container at least three feet from any tree, pole, hydrant, mailbox, etc. and at least five feet away from any cars parked in the street so the automated arm can reach your container.

Place containers curbside rather than out in the street where they can interfere with the flow of traffic and possibly impede the passage of emergency vehicles. Remember to place the arrows on the lid of the cart toward the street and the handle toward the house.

Do not overload the container or lean anything against the cart. If the lid is not closed, it will be subjected to wind and nuisance animals.

Please place the containers at the curb prior to 7 a.m. on pick-up day. Maximum collection is limited to two 95-gallon containers per week.

Yard waste may not be placed in the container. State law prohibits yard waste - which is compostable - from being mixed with garbage or recycling.

If you have any additional questions or wish to upgrade your recycling cart, please call Republic Services Customer Service at 636-947-5959 or visit www.RepublicServices.com

Solid Waste items must be placed curbside by 7 AM on pick up day, but not more than 24 hours before.  Cans and other containers must be brought back in within 24 hours.

The cost for standard services for October 1, 2023, to September 30, 2024, is $22.82 per month (Senior Citizens Rate - $20.53 per month) billed quarterly.

APPLIANCE PICKUP:  Appliances will be picked up on an "On Call" basis at an additional charge.  To order an appliance pickup, please call Customer Care Center at 636-947-5959.

ONCE A WEEK CURBSIDE YARD WASTE PICK-UP:  Yard waste consists of grass clippings, leaves, tree limbs and branches, household or yard plants and Christmas trees. Yard waste may be placed in compost bags designed for yard waste collection, or it may be placed loosely in 32 gallon trash cans clearly labeled as yard waste, NOT to exceed 55 pounds per container. Yard waste in plastic bags will not be collected. Maximum collection of yard waste material is limited to 12 containers per week. Tree limbs and branch trimmings may be gathered into bundles no more than 18" in diameter, 4' in length and 60 lbs in weight.

HOLIDAYS:  New Year's Day, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day are observed holidays and collections will not be made on these days.  If a holiday falls on or before a service day, pick-up will be delayed by one day for the rest of the week.

Additionally, Republic Services has a program called "My Resources". This program gives residents the ability to start an online account with Republic with which they can pay bills, report a missed pick-up, schedule a pick-up, report a container repair and much more. You can go to www.RepublicServices.com and go to My Resources, set up a User ID and Password and that's it! You will need your email address and a current invoice number from your latest bill to set up your account. Customer Service will continue to be available to assist. If needed, call 636-947-5959.
